Seeing Series, Seek His Face, 3

Seek His Face?

  • Do we truly understand the points on seeking YHWH’s face?
  • Do we truly understand the benefits of seeking His face?
  • How do we go about seeking His face?
  • Do we crave to seek His face?

Put yourself in a crowd.  Then put someone you love in that same crowd.  They may be across a football field bursting with people.  Let us start out with this scenario:  you do not know for sure the other person is there.  But you catch a glimpse of someone whom looks like them.  You might look again, in the same spot, to see if your eyes were playing tricks on you.  Or you just might say “nah, I was wrong”.  You have a choice.  Now, let us change that scenario to:  you knew you were to meet them there.  When you catch that glimpse you feel a rush of happiness, a bit of stress, or frustration?  How are you to get to them?  How are you going to connect with each other?  Then when you start in their direction you cannot find them again.  Because you took your eyes off them for a few seconds , maybe so you would not step on a child.  Being in a crowd like that, thousands of things could happen.  But you will try to get to the other person.  You are seeking to see that face again.  Do you seek the Lord’s face?  Are you just as hungry to see His face as your loved ones?.

Do you think YHWH looks in the crowd, on this planet, and wants to connect with you the same way you want to connect with your loved one?  Do you think the Father loves you as much; just to catch a glimpse of you and to connect with you?  Imagine His feelings as He sits in heaven and tries His best to get us to look at Him.  Just as you try to will your loved one to see you in the face of thousands, do you think that maybe God feels the same?  You may stand in that crowd and stretch up on your toes and yell until you are hoarse; but your loved one never hears you and they are lost in the hoard of people.  They may even turn their back on you and start walking the other way.  The disappointment you feel is part frustration and part pain.

Now to the most important question.  Are you seeking Heaven in the same way you would seek a loved one?  Are you jumping up and down, waving your hands to get the Saviour’s attention?  Not literally but figuratively.  Are you willing to embarrass yourself; not caring whom sees you try to connect with your Lord in all the masses of people?  Are you seeking your LORD’s face with as much gusto as you would a friend’s?  Are you seeking just glimpses or are you looking to find that face?  Are you satisfied with just a passing glimpse?  Or do you crave to see each and every wrinkle and the lines in His eyes?  Are you satisfied with seeing His face at a distance?  Are you weaving your way thru the crowd to get closer to Him?

Isaiah 55:6

Seek ye the LORD while he may be found,  call ye upon him while he is near:

Psalms 63:1

 O GOD, thou art my God;  early will I seek thee:  my soul thirsteth for thee,  my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land,  where no water is;

Will you be able to say the same as in verse 15 of Psalms 17?

As for me,  I will behold thy face in righteousness:  I shall be satisfied,  when I awake, with thy likeness.

That one verse can have many meanings.  First, is the faith that when the writer dies, he will be satisfied with seeing his Lord, and he has certainty in knowing he will have his eternity with his Lord.  Then, secondly, it could mean that he had sought  YHWH’s face, so much so, that he will intuitively know the face.   Wow, just think on that for a second!  None of us has seen His face, but to wake up from death or to be called and instantly know you are looking at His face!  Then to know that you, personally, have sought out His face and you have that degree of certainty about your eternal life, what joy!

To me, that is what seeking His face should mean.  Just typing that last paragraph has put such joy in my heart that tears are running down my face.  My prayer for you is that you have that relationship with our Father and Saviour, so much so that you have tears also.

If you are part of the crowd and do not see His face, take the time to search Him out.  Seek Him in prayer; and seek Him in the Scriptures.  He is there waiting for you to catch a glimpse.

Deuteronomy 4:29

But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God,  thou shalt find him,  if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.

Ⅱ Chronicles 7: 14

If my people,  which are called by my name,  shall humble themselves,  and pray,  and seek my face,  and turn from their wicked ways;  then will I hear from heaven,  and will forgive their sin,  and will heal their land.

 My prayer:
Father,  may this post touch one soul, may you give them such comfort that they too have tears of joy.  Let them seek Your face each moment of each day.  Father, thank you for the gift of these tears and what joy and comfort they have brought me.
